| - Vampire Mythos and Facts:
The Vampire Mythos contains a wide variety of things that can be deemed either fact or fiction to others. These are a wide variety of speculated facts and discarded theories. This of course is the same for all of the races and will be shown throughout this mythos thread.
Though the vampires are thought to have been a race similar to humans in more ways than most of the others they actually differ in multiple races. One of the most misconceived thoughts on the vampires is that they have an infinite life span but this is misconceived because of their long lasted time of maturity which can last almost an entire century for most and even longer for the unlucky. This can cause them to have a life span lasting longer than any other race in Olair giving them the look of immortality. Following their time of maturity their life span continues a similar path as the humans do and can even die around the age of two hundred.
Because the vampires follow nobility much closer and stronger than any of the other races it is quite easy to fall from such with a mistake in actions or a falsity of the pure blood that they care so much for. Because of these rules they deem any of those who carry mixed blood as below them and it is rare to find any pure blood who would treat such vampires with any type of respect. Because of their love for nobility, they have come to enchant special items of importance that can only be handled or even touched by those of pure nobility. Many of these items include swords or gems encrusted into jewelry.
After the events of the second Era the vampires prohibit any undead from entering their territory and any that allow them within the borders of the fields of darkness and/or those who have been found guilty of harboring such creatures are put to death on the spot to keep such an idea from growing in the minds of others.
Their weaknesses include direct sunlight and a hatred of silver.
- Werewolf Mythos and Facts:
The werewolf mythos is one of strange difference to most of the other races but eerily close to those of the Yokos. These include the aspects of which they worship as in nature and the love of combat to prove dominance. One of the main mythos known to the other races is their unique connection to nature known in several forms such as their abilities to transform and their growing knowledge and connection to natural magic. Though at first look they seem to be the evolution of society from nature they still carry a connection in the form of Nobility known as the alphas and their nomadic nature. Unlike other race nobility's these can easily be taken from their holders through violence and acts of one upping. These are seen as more of primal rituals to the others but it has become a way of life for the werewolves keeping the traditions of their ancestors from the old land alive.
The werewolves believe that even amongst the multiple alphas, the supreme alpha is seen as the greatest of their race. This position can only be obtained in the full moon of the winter's month (December) in the midst of a tournament amongst the alphas in an attempt to knock the Supreme alpha from their throne. If the supreme alpha is not defeated by the dawn of the next day, the seat stays with the family of the supreme alpha and can not be challenged for another year.
Their weaknesses have been known to include silver and any powerful smell because of their strong sense of smell.
- Witches/Warlocks Mythos and Facts:
As a race who actually originated as humans, they still connect many of their mythos to those of the humans but have adopted many of their own with the help of the Elves and the Yokos. These involve such a love for nature that every life in it is seen as prescious and should be nurtured to perfection in their eyes. This can be misguiding of course but not to them. One of the first of their own mythos is their given love and connection to the nature around them. This not only assists them in their living amongst the forest, it also stretches their magical limits and abilities by giving them a wider variety of spells to wield in battle. The witches/warlocks take this as a reason to believe in nature over nurture and have been known to abandon their young in the forest to give them a strong sense of survival and has been known to forcibly unlock their abilities to use magic at such young ages. Though this is seen as a suitable method for building stronger and better warriors this has been dubbed as an irresponsible act that has been known to turn quite a portion of the young primal due to the terrifying conditions deeper within the woods.
As a cause of their love for nature, the witches/warlocks have come to hate those who defy the laws of it. Like the vampires, they have grown a powerful distaste for the undead and eradicate all they come across, seeing them as abominations that have no place in this world. This not only counts for the undead but those who break the rules of nature by using dark magics such as necromancy. This made such acts illegal within their realm to be met with the penalty of death.
- Elf Mythos and Facts:
The elves are known to have some of the strangest and unique. The worship nature like the witches and the Yoko do but they hold it to such high regards that those who have travelled beyond their borders of what they deem as their nature are seen as deserters and are met with punishment if they were ever to return to the territory. This is similar to the witches/warlocks territorial rules but are met with much higher acts of punishment, showing that their connection to nature is absolute in their eyes.
Like the vampires, elves are thought to have an infinite life span but they just have a much slower aging process than most of the races making them seem to be able to hold their youth for centuries. The oldest an elf has been known to live for is well over three centuries yet no one has gone deep into these details because of the seclusion of the elves making it hard to even study them unless being one of their neighboring races.
The custom of light is one of their biggest mythos, being the one aspect they seem to worship aside from nature. Those who practice light magic are known to become paladins of their realm and protectors against the dark. Even a few have become shadow watchers against the will of their leaders, having to leave the forest to become such.
- Human Mythos and Facts:
Though the most simple of all of the races, they are known to be one of the oldest and one of the most powerful. Unlike the other races who powers are based on abilities in magic or strange adaptations beyond the normal limits seen in humans, they survive by their known traits of extreme stubborness and their abilities to adapt to their enemies and dangerous situations much faster than most of the other races.
Unlike the witches/warlocks and Elves that worship nature and prefer to be secluded to their own races, the humans tend to be the most eradic and travelling of all races due to a combination of powerful curiousity and the shared love of the other races, gained after several treaties had been made between their territory and those of the snow imps, Yoko's and water spirits after the wars of the second era. With these treaties they are able to enter the other territories with ease but once they do so most are left on their own to survive against the laws of these parts of the land without a company of help from their own kingdom.
Due to the extermination attempts between the first and second era, the humans gained a deep hatred for the wraiths and visa versa making them life long enemies. They would hunt them down and kill them on site until this was put to an end at the end of the third Era but the hate still lingered.
They carry no known weaknesses besides those to sickness and the sickness of old age.
- Water Spirit Mythos and Facts:
Though even to this day most of what is known about their race is a mystery to most species, they have become a major talked about subject to researches and travellers alike. The mythos of these creatures mimics those of the Elves, Yoko and witches but instead of worshipping the forest or the full aspect of nature they worship water in all of its form, not only because of it being their home, it is also the source of their magic and they believe the source of all magic in the world. Because of this factor they believe that those who can use their water guardian form are special and have gained the true power of water magic.
Like many of the other races, the water spirits have a hatred for the undead, not only because of what they are but because in the past they were hunted by wraiths for their life energy because the water spirits that would leave the lake for expeditions into the rest of the land would usually be alone due to ignorance of what really existed in the outside world and were easy targets for them to drain unlike those of the other races that would mostly travel in groups for protection and company. This is why any that are found near the lake are to be killed on site. This also made them concerned to allow others into their territory and those who do are under watch their entire trip to keep such incidents from occuring.
They do not carry many weaknesses like the rest of the races yet they do have an affinity for silver because of their belief that it is a sacred metal. This can be used to lure them if they are unaware of their surroundings.
- Dwarf Mythos and Facts:
As one of the oldest races to the world, the Dwarves have gathered a mythos that has withstood the test of time and the forces of their enemies. They worship each mountain as if they were gods and believe it is what helps them find such rare materials such as obsidian and emeralds. They prefer to live in the mountains for their full lives because mining has become their full way of life and not much else has been found for such an industrious race so far in a world still growing. They were thought to be the first to awaken the dragons when they were mining for more materials for war. They have kept the truth a secret to all of the other races that they awoken Swiplic during a hunt for iron which led to him waking up the rest of his kind. They felt that their way of righting this wrong was hiring the dragonborn to help them mine for minerals for all of Olair which was built on a treaty created within the midst of the third era when the race of the dragonborn first came to be.
Like most of the other races, the royal family has come to full power over the entire dwarven kingdom and whatever they wish to be happens beneath their words. Because of this they have full control over what and where to mine and if anything unusual is found within the mines it is to be imediate placed within the royal vaults unless or until it is found within mast quantities. This is to insure that any rare or new material is to be kept a secret even from the rest of the mining crews.
Their cheif export had once been Obsidian due to the fear of the rising of the dragons once more and it being one of the most magic bound materials in Olair, but that has changed to iron and silver once they began to export to hunters and werewolf slayers. This has been seen as most unethical but they care not for what it goes to, only caring for their mining life style.
- Night Walker Mythos and Facts:
A race barely known to those who study them and even less known to all others, they had only recently appeared in the land to the south and live within the darkness, avoiding the light at most costs because, like the vampires, it weakens them and makes them more vulnerable. Most that are seen outside of the southern mountain ranges are heavily clothed and hide within large crowds to keep themselves from being noticed. Because of the recent hunt for them by the Shadow watchers they try all they can to keep from being found and to keep them from finding their homes in the south. Though it is still unknown whether they are true evil or just creatures of darkness, sharing many similarities with vampires and wraiths, is unknown but most take up caution around them and even try to avoid them at all costs.
They share similar look of humans but with darker, more greyish skin and usually have dark or even black hair. Some who like to venture out into the rest of the realm wear makeup and temporarily dye their hair to keep their true selves hidden but can usually be found by the dark aura they release when angry or just highly emotional.
They follow few laws, only those inducted by their dark masters and follow their word to all ends which keeps them under their complete control under the power of fear and faith in the darkness.
- Wraiths:
Also known as the Necromancer's curse on the land of Olair, these are life devouring creatures that have roamed the realm endlessly since the end of the first Era. They were originally created by a powerful Necromancer for use in the war against the dragons and managed to live on even after her death. They have been given the name of the curse on the land because of their constant attacks on anyone with life energy to keep themselves alive for as long as they can. Because of this fact they have been dubbed as creatures of evil or abominations of nature without a reason to rightfully exist, and are hunted down on a daily basis by most of the races and because of this are nomadic and truely hard to find. Their most notable factor is that if it has been a while since they have last fed, they carry the smell of a rotting carcass. Because of this factor most of the races use hunting animals to track them down.
Though not a lot is known about them they are more fearful of others than others are of them. They only devour the lives of others to keep themselves from becoming rotting cadavers and most feel it as a horrific act of survival. Though they stay away from most other species they travel in groups for safety and attempt to collect magic weapondry to keep themselves safe amoungst the realm.
They have no known weaknesses because of them being the undead and most are known to feel no physical pain. This makes them very suitible for battle and dangerous in a fight.
- Reaper Mythos and Facts:
Known as the keepers of the dead, because of their elusive nature there is not much known about them to most others. They are as others think, those who ferry the dead from the world of the living to the world of the dead under orders of death and his seven hunters. Even though they are those who have been given a second chance to life after dieing once, many do not remember or care to remember their past lives. They keep up such a front to keep themselves from being found out as their law insists their actions are to be kept a secret and any who are told about this secret are to be killed imediately no matter the consequences of their death. Because of this they try not to get close to any of those near them when they are living under their cover. To keep their true selves hidden the reapers can take the form of any of the races in Olair and most have never seen the true face of a reaper, saying it can strike fear in the greatest of hearts.
Like the wraiths they carry no known weaknesses on their own but can copy the weaknesses of the race they have chosen to take the form of. This can cause complications but completes their assimilation into their surroundings. They do not age as expected. Most of the weapons weilded by the reapers are remnants of their past or weapons handed down to them by older reapers.
Death's 7 great hunters are known as the leaders of the reapers because their law is second only to their master and all reapers are expected to follow them. Though they are high ranking they still reside in the world of the living to ferry the dead under the orders of death, having far greater abilities then those beneath them.
- Yoko Mythos and Facts:
As one of the oldest races in Olair, their mythos are full of history as well as mystery. How long they have resided in the realm is unknown and whether they are truely from the land is unkown as well. They follow the dieties of nature and have done so long before the other races showed up on the banks of Olair. Because of their long history with magic they are the strongest magic based race and also the one that had taught a large group of humans to use nature magic, helping to create the race of Witches/Warlocks from them. Like that race they very much believe in the cultivation of nature and its properties and have come to hate creatures like wraiths for being what they are, abominations against nature and capture any they come across. Though as a more peaceful race they rarely kill them without reason and usually just capture them and deport them out of their territory.
They have shown to have great power with nature and are masters in the elements of fire and earth making them dangerously powerful if trained right. They believe magic to be their greatest weapon and rarely ever use weapondry even during battle. This was originally dawned when they were a peaceful, war devoided race and had no reason for weapons. They kept this trait even throughout the eras and see magic as the ultimate weapon, soon to make weapons obsolete in comparison.
As their name suggests, they are human-like with fox-like appearances whether they have an outgrowing fox tail or the ears of such. This gives them advantages like greater hearing and better balance which come in handy inside and outside of battle.
- Dragon Born Mythos and Facts:
They are known as the strange crossbreed between humans and dragons but it is unknown whether this is the truth or they are just a strange anomaly of nature. There have been speculations of where they come from and how they were made but even they refuse to speak of their origins. They are humanoid in appearance but their skin is rough and jagged like a dragons because of scales and they can grow wings from their back and have the capability of breathing fire. This can be used to catch opponents off guard and the stronger the dragon born the more powerful the flames are.
Unlike the humans they have no weaknesses to poisons or sicknesses but like the dragons they are weak to obsidian in the same ways and are weakened when even near it. Because of this they are not allowed to mine beneath the ground and stay up in the mountains mining with the dwarves thanks to a joint treaty and has more than doubled production due to their uncanny mining abilities that nearly match those of the dwarves. Though they seem more dragon than human they care not for their brethren that are sleeping deep within the mountains and find it more of a curse then a gift.
They can become adept in magic and it can even change their properties, whether they master in ice or earth magic.
